Where I’ve been…

How I’ve acquired the two followers I have is beyond me: I’ve been horribly remiss in doing anything with this tumblr blog.  I’ve had a busy year - work had me from here in the midwest to Dallas to San Diego to Seattle, Denver, Indianapolis to Cape Cod (and the maritimes) over an 8-month span, putting just over 30k miles on my truck, with horrendous internet access most of the way.  I’m back to home-base for the time being and will try to do more to entertain my two followers, and maybe even obtain some more of them!

"Suspicious quotation marks," indeed.  My favorite is the reductive "massage" one - it sounds like something one can do without assistance, too!!

Rolling Stones v. MacLeod

Ok, the best I can do is paraphrase the joke I heard this w/e whilst sporting my Loud MacLeod (of Lewis) kilt:

Q: What’s the difference between the Rolling Stones and a MacLeod?

A: The Stones said “Hey you, get off of my cloud” and MacLeods say “Hey MacLeod, get off of my Ewe!”

Sheep jokes and kilts appear to be par for the course (golf allusion fully intended ;-)

historyofeurope:

The 15th-century church of Rodel on the Isle of Lewis, built for the warlike chiefs of the MacLeods, towers over the sea lochs of Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. Nothing in early modern Britain, from its cities to its remotest corners, was more political than religion. The church in every parish—nearly always the most imposing building—was as much a symbol of worldly control as a shrine to God.

This is the Isle from whence the Loud MacLeod tartan comes, my favorite kilt thus far!

When the time comes - and hopefully not for quite a while! - I want a headstone like these…

I have no idea where this particular basement door might be located but it’s oddly beautiful.  The stonework, probably an oaken door with hand-hammered hinges and whatnot, sweet!  The door alone probably weighs half-a-ton!

I’ve been on the road for quite some time, and keep forgetting I’ve got this blog :-(  Soon I hope to start posting regularly, especially with the upcoming D & R conventions and the “national” election season in full swing.

I had to laugh at this one for two reasons 1) I was in the military, and 2) the first time I ran one of these buffers I took out a whole rack of potato chips at the store I was working at at the time.  Memory Lane ;-)

I’m online fairly often and keep forgetting I started this tumblr blog.  wtf?!
This particular cartoon, however, is a humorous reminder of what a sorry state our publik skool gradyewits are in when they are discharged from those prisons.  So many, way too many, are incapable of writing a singular proper sentence or of making change without the use of their cash registers.  Have you ever tossed a couple coins into a cashier’s hands after they’ve keyed-in the dollar amount you gave ‘em initially?  i find it amusing, to a point, but am still thoroughly distressed by the reality that the “future generations” seem to be irredeemable imbeciles…
